English introduction

Ilpo Koskela´s comics has been published in several Finnish comics fanzines, magazines and newspapers durind the past 30 years. In present day "ME RIUSKASET" continuing story goes in "Meidän Talo" monthly magazine. The story introduces it´s readers the life of housebuilder and also gives information about laws and rules of modern housebuilding and construction. In 65 Degrees North -publication comics strip "UP NORTH" is been published and "Isännöinnin ykköset" professional newspaper shows "TALOELÄMÄÄ" strip to it´s readers.

Ilpo Koskela has done five graphic novels: "IRLANTILAINEN"1991, "SARJAKUVAKEITTOKIRJA" with Ari Kutila 1992, "ALEKS REVEL" 1997,"PERÄMEREN JÄHTI" with Juha Ruusuvuori 2007 and "PAHOLAISEN KUISKAUS" 2009. In January 2008 English language version of Perämeren Jähti, "JÄHTI - SAILING SHIPOF THE NORTH" was released. Paholaisen kuiskaus will be published in Sweden in May 2011, with the name "DJÄVULENS VISKNING".

October 2007 Ilpo Koskela´s comics artist´s guidebook "PIENI OPAS SARJAKUVAN PIIRTÄMISEEN" was released and one year after– in October 2008 the Sami language version of the same book, "SMÁVVA OAPHISRAIDÓGOVAID SÁRGUMII". October 2010 the third version of guidebook project, the 156-pages full coloured "SARJAKUVANTEKIJÄN OPPIKIRJA" was released. This is the first complete "how to draw comics" book in Finland after more than twenty years now.

Ilpo Koskela´s works and originals has been shown in exhibitions from early 1980´s till present day in Finland, and also in Sweden and in Portugal. In Kemi Scandinavian Comics Competition Ilpo Koskela has been the most successful artist during the years.

Ilpo Koskela was one of the founders of Oulun comics association in 1980, and was leading it till the late 1990´s. He has worked with The Arctic Comics Festival – Kemi Finland since 1995, of it´s chairman since 2001. In 2007 Koskela also became the festival leader.

Ilpo Koskela worked as a comics teacher in Oulu Art School for 14 years, and has been giving lectures of writing and drawing comics in many festivals and also in Universities. 1998 Ilpo Koskela was asked to plan the first education program of becoming Comics School in Liminka Art School.
